While religion continues to be one of the drivers of conflict in the Middle East, there are advocates of moderation and reconciliation trying to make their voices heard in the Jewish, Muslim, and Christian communities in Israel and the Arab world.
Mosaica has begun to build a structure that will facilitate this contact—The Coalition of Religious Leaders in the Middle East, in the effort to support these leaders and enable contact among them in order to strengthen their efforts.
The Coalition's goals are as follows:
○
Providing religious support and legitimacy to dialogue and cooperative processes between the Jewish and Muslim worlds in the Middle East
○
Deepening partnerships between Judaism and Islam in the Middle East to provide a rapid response mechanism for mitigating crises with religious import
○
Providing resources and religious legitimacy to political negotiations that might require compromise on religious issues
